Recent Attacks Highlight Importance of Safety Precautions

While the risk of being bitten by a shark is extremely low, Florida tops global charts for the number of shark bites according to the Florida Museum. The Florida Museum of Natural History's International Shark Attack File investigated 120 alleged shark-human interactions worldwide in 2023.

Three people were injured in back-to-back shark attacks in waters off Florida's Gulf Coast on Friday, officials said. Two of the victims - an adult and a child - were bitten at Pensacola Beach, while the third victim was bitten at Navarre Beach.

SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) - Walton County beaches and waters have reopened to the public after one.

So far, there have been 37 very unlucky people in 2023. They're the ones who went out scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, or swimming and ended up in a shark's jaws.
